ON THE PENNSYLVANIA/DELAWARE STATE LINE, SIGMAS JOIN FORCES TO IMPACT THEIR COMMUNITIES

Brothers of Lambda Delta Sigma and Delta Sigma Sigma connecting in the name of Service!

To honor and celebrate Founders’ Day, the Delta Sigma Sigma (Delaware County, PA) and Lambda Delta Sigma (New Castle County, DE) chapters connected to hold a “State Line Happy Hour and Essentials Drive” on Friday, January 10th. The event was fueled by a mission to assist the needs of underprivileged men in their respective communities. Bro. Randy Johnson, President of the Sigma Cares foundation, was noted as acknowledging that the chapters “didn’t want to leave the men out,” noting that many in our communities silently battle poverty and homelessness.

Together, the chapters enjoyed a festive event with Sorors of the Epsilon Rho Zeta and Rho Chi Zeta chapters of Zeta Phi Beta, fellow members of NPHC organizations, and many other community members, family, and friends. Representatives from the US Census Bureau were on hand to stress the importance of the Census while also engaging with guests and building their base.

Guests brought outstanding donations of toiletries, new clothing, and winter supplies. The brothers are working in tandem with community organizations and “pounding the pavement” to distribute these supplies. In addition to creating “Blessing Bags” for distribution in high-needs areas, the brothers are also working with groups including CityTeam Ministries, the Sunday Breakfast Mission, and the Friendship House to support and assist in supplying the needs of their predominately male populations.

The chapters truly thank everyone who contributed their time, effort, supplies, and presence to the event. They look forward to more collaboration, continuing their drive to provide intentional and impactful service to their communities!
